# Unit Costs

A *unit* is an entity that is a part of your cloud environment, such as projects, services, skus, etc.

Unit costs help in determining the cost per cloud entity by utilizing the labeled resources in your cloud projects. The Unit cost feature provides you with the following information and controls:

The unit costs can be visualized in two different ways as per your preference, i.e., Treemap or Table.

| ----------------------------------- | -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| Date selector                       | Allows filtering the displayed data by selecting a specific month                                                                                                                                                    |
| Formatted as (visualization format) | Specify the desired format for visualizing the data, i.e., Treemap or Table.                                                                                                                                         |
| With credits                        | When switched off, it displays the cost subtotal for which you are accountable, i.e., the actual cost minus discounts or promotions                                                                                  |
| Select a label to load as dimension | Any chosen labelled resource from this section of your cloud projects will load as a dimension                                                                                                                       |
| Dimensions                          | Dimensions are labels representing cloud entities that serve as the building blocks for unit cost breakdown analysis. You can add up to three dimensions max, and can further apply a filter over the selected label |
